The
Association was formed on Saturday, 9 April, 1994 at a meeting
held in Pretoria. During this year
the English
rulebook was
translated into Afrikaans and ditributed to all the Provincial
Unions. This
rulebook often
gets reviewed.
Courses presented by referees in
the Provinces and Regions are not accredited to the SAKF, but
those qualifications are sufficient for the referees to referee
in the provincial leagues.
In 2002, five of the South African referees were placed on
the
IKF list,
although they were categorised as level C referees.
